About Us

Tere tulemast - welcome to our store!

Our journey began with one idea and a passion, Marissa’s deep love for Estonian folk costumes and heritage. What started as her personal project has grown into a heartfelt business that’s all about connection, culture, and everyday joy.

At our core, we’re here to bring Estonian culture into people’s daily lives, wherever they are in the world. Each of our designs is inspired by traditional Estonian folk costume patterns, or Rahvariide, and the stories they carry. Whether you're reconnecting with your roots or simply drawn to the beauty of the culture, our products are made to spark curiosity, pride, and a sense of belonging.

We’ve been fortunate to build on Marissa’s volunteer work with Estonian non-profit organisations in Australia, and today we continue that spirit, celebrating tradition, sharing culture, and creating something meaningful for people who love Estonia as much as we do.

Thank you for being here and for helping us keep Estonian heritage alive, one design at a time.

We specialise in a beautiful and ever-growing range of products inspired by traditional Estonian folk costumes. Many of our collections are created with reference to materials from MTÜ Rahvarõivas, established in 2008, and are credited accordingly. Other designs draw inspiration from the Australian Estonian Folk Costume Library, curated by the Sydney Eesti Seltsi Kunsti-, Käsitöö- ja Etnograafiaring (SESKKE). If you’d like to donate a costume or learn more about our sources, we’d love to hear from you, please get in touch.

On her latest journey to Estonia in June 2025, Marissa and her family embarked on a deeply meaningful journey through her motherland. They began by visiting Võru cemetery, honoring great-grandparents with forest-side graves, a powerful moment of connection for Marissa. They discovered handcrafted belts and chanterelles in a local käsitöö shop and revisited cherished childhood memories.

The trip also brought business inspiration: Marissa held her first professional conversation in a small handicraft store, exploring collaboration opportunities for Estonian Designs AU. Finally, a visit to her grandmother’s childhood home and reflections during lakeside moments tied past and present into one cohesive, emotionally rich experience. This journey deepened her roots, reinforced her cultural mission, and rekindled her creative spark.
